......and Rest.

Hello There!

Half term is here at last, eight weeks is a long time!  There was a lot of tiredness at school.

The storms seem to have passed this corner of Gloucestershire with not much effect.  There are leaves on the ground but that's about it, thank goodness.   Some have not fared so well.

Mr Clicky, me, Master Clicky and the dog have been to stay with Mr Clicky's sister in High Wycombe this weekend.  We haven't been away for a while and it was lovely.
We visited Cliveden, a National Trust property, one time home of Nancy Astor, maybe more well known as the setting for the Profumo Affair.  We walked in the woods as we had the dog with us, it was warm and blustery.

Along the walk there were sculptures made from tree trunks.

Snail ~ in case you were wondering!
 Man and woman.
We walked down through the woods and along the Thames.
We then had to walk back up a lot of steps.
At the top was a beautiful carved bench which we rested on.
And looked back down where we had been.
The leaves were a bit damp so disappointingly not crunchy.
From our rest stop we could see the house.  We'll come back one day ~ without the dog ~ and go inside.
Back to the car now through a beech walk.
We made Master Clicky try out the fitness trail, the dog wasn't impressed.
A lovely walk and a lovely weekend.  Thanks J.

I've bought two books recently which I thought you might to see.  I'm a bit late to the party with these but there you go!
Granny Squares written by blogger Suz Pinner.   A really nicely written and photographed book.
 There are some lovely patterns.
I'm loving this ~ or is it because it's lime green?
Knit to Flatter by Amy Herzog.  A useful book to have on the bookcase about adapting patterns to fit your shape.
A few patterns that I like.  Wrap cardi.
Flappy cardi.
And surprise, surprise another cardi.
I've also recently bought this pattern, a hoodie with cables.
I have managed a bit of knitting lately which I'll show you later in the week.
I wound this football 400g of yarn, the merino that I got at Ally Pally.  This was the twisted skein, I knew I couldn't put it into the stash as a skein where it would without doubt, tangle itself even more.
It took me a mere 4 hours.  Phew!

That's me for now.........see you soon.

Mr Clicky's Trip to Moscow

Hello Folks!

I thought you might like to see Mr Clicky's pictures from his business trip to Moscow.  He was gone for a week so I got full control of the TV remote ~ yay!

He flew easyJet, who'd have thought?
He stayed on the outskirts of Moscow.  This picture was taken from his (high up) hotel window.  That is a seven lane road you can see.  It was constantly full of traffic.  The high rise blocks opposite are all apartments.
 It looks beautiful at night.
In between work things he and his colleague had a chance to look round Moscow.
Orthodox Church.
 The Kremlin.
 St Basil's Cathedral.
I love the brightly coloured minarets.
He bought some touristy things back.
Russian Dolls.
This doll is made from silver birch bark.
 Vodka ~ of course.
A T-shirt for Master Clicky with the Moscow underground map.
500 rouble note worth about £9.00.
A Cossack Hat for Miss Clicky ably modelled by Master Clicky.  He was going for his best serious Russian Face but starting giggling instead.
Lastly the rain hammering down today.  Luckily the dog had already been out.  Sensibly he refuses to go out in the rain.
That's me for now.....nice to see you again.
Have fun.........................Clicky Needles.

Ally Pally

Hello Folks!

One thing I do like about October is that it's Ally Pally time.  Me and my knitting friend Romain boarded the coach with lots of other like minded knitting folk and took the trip up to London.
It was a miserable wet day but a bit of rain couldn't dampen our spirits.
Outside was a Yarn-Bombed black cab.   You can see the raindrops on the bonnet.
The jury's out on Yarn-Bombing as far as I am concerned but I love the pom-poms!
 Lovely stripyness.
Inside, the first stall we came across was Toft Alpaca, this year not many garments but loads of crocheted animals.  They were generating lots of interest.  Soooo soft.
(I didn't take this pic in sepia the light was weird.)
The fashion students' work was as always, fabulous.
I love this cream tunic.
 Bright crochet is getting everywhere.
We walked around, did lots of buying and nattering, had lunch and a rest and started again.  When we came out ~ 5 hours later ~ it had stopped raining but London still looked dull in the distance.
What did you buy? I hear you ask.
I did very well!
Drops Delight sock yarn £2.10 per ball, £4.20 for a pair of socks ~ not bad.  I'm planning some stripy socks with these.
Mini chicken knit kit.  Well, it was cute.
King Cole Country Tweed, to make a hat for my friend but then.......
....I came across some Eden Cottage Yarns Maya ~ baby alpaca.
1kg of navy blue merino, really squishy and soft.  As the hanks are slightly different colours the nice man gave to me for £12.00 for both.
 Pretty pattern from Loop.
Little Knitting Company fuchsia pink angora, this is to make some handless mitts for me to wear whilst working on the computer.  I had really cold hands the other day.
And lastly a pretty felt ball necklace.  I'm a real sucker for felt balls and it is lime green so resistance was futile.
So that's it.
A really tiring but fabby day.  The show was the busiest I've ever seen it.  Heaving.

Righto I'm off to wind the Alpaca into a yarn cake.
See you soon, with Mr Clicky's Russia snaps.

As always have fun.
Bye for now....................Clicky Needles.

Happy Birthday Mr Clicky!

Hello there.

A milestone has been reached here at Clicky Needles' Towers.  Mr Clicky was 50.  He took the day off work and we went out to lunch.  It was a quiet day, we don't really do big birthday celebrations.

Last Saturday we went out with some friends to see Adam Hills, the Aussie comedian.  Not only is he very funny, he is a lovely chap and if he is appearing near you I'd recommend him.  We had a smashing time with lots of laughs.

Autumn is well and truly here, although it's still fairly warm in these parts the leaves have started to fall.  I took the camera into the garden to see what was around.  The leaves from our cherry tree.
The japanese anemones are flowering but they are so unruly I keep trying ~ fairly unsuccessfully ~ to get some out.

Michaelmas Daisies
Dead flower head ~ needs removing.
On the knitting front, when I was at The Butterfly Knitting Group last week, the nursery owner came in with some balls of twine.  He asked if anyone could make some things with it so I took some.  So far I've made a little basket and I'm working on a shopping basket.

The colours are really vibrant!
I've also cast on for my Temari jumper by Cotton and Cloud.  I'm using the Hayfield Bonus Aran I bought a little bit back, not the Fiberspates Scrumptious Aran (with 45% silk) the pattern calls for but I'm sure it'll be fine.
So there we are, I'm having a quiet week ~ the TV when and how I want it ~ as Mr Clicky has gone to Russia for the week on business.

See you soon.......Clicky Needles
